The Special Committees conduct activities that are beyond the scope of any standing committee.
AWARDS — Identifies PLGC activities that may be eligible for a State, Regional or National award/grant and oversees the application process.
BLUE STAR VETERAN MEMORIAL — Organizes a Veterans Day ceremony on November 11th.
COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT – Helping to improve our local environment – one garden at a time. Signature projects include the Blue Star Veteran Memorial Garden, the Garden by the Pool, and the Youth Garden. Each garden is led by a committed team of volunteers who coordinate planting, maintenance, and community engagement.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH — The club extends its impact beyond Plantation Lakes by participating in meaningful community outreach initiatives. Examples include decorating the historic Godwin Schoolhouse during various holidays to help celebrate local heritage, as well as supporting nonprofit organizations such as the Food Bank of Delaware, SNAC Garden Foundation, and others.
FLOWER SHOW— all aspects of any PLGC-sponsored NGC flower show
NEWSLETTER — Prepares the monthly PLGC newsletter and submits information/photos to the DFGC and CAR-SGC newsletters upon request.
PLANT A TREE — Oversees PLGC participation in the NGC/USDA Forest Service partnership that helps to restore trees indigenous to an area destroyed by fire, flood, or other natural disasters.
PUBLIC EDUCATION — Conducts activities that promote our club’s objective to non-members in our community.
SCHOLARSHIP — Supports the DFGC scholarship program through the annual purchase of a DFGC Life Membership that is awarded to a PLGC member. Scholarship is awarded to a
commendable Delaware graduate.
SUNSHINE — Sends get-well, sympathy, or other appropriate cards on behalf of the club to members who are ill, hospitalized, grieving, or experiencing significant life events.
WEBSITE — Shares information online with members, neighbors, and others about PLGC activities.
YEARBOOK — Oversees the preparation of the annual club yearbook and prepares the DFGC award application form with two copies of the yearbook for submission by the October 1st

YOUTH ACTIVITIES — Oversees and plans PLGC activities that encourage youth to experience the garden and nature.
